A visual masterpiece, the team were working overtime and that’s abundantly clear, it’s revolutionary animation that fits the Spider-Man theme to a tee and is the epitome of a comic book movie.
Instead of Peter Parker we see a new adaptation of Spider-Man in Miles Morales’ origin story, it’s a refreshing take on our friendly neighborhood spider-man. The journey Miles embarks on is one of strength, courage and the most important being family. Not only does it teach us key lessons but it’s original, stylish and imaginative, making it easily the best Spider-Man film since Spider-Man 2.
The soundtrack is a lot of fun and it’s crazy they improve on the soundtrack for the second movie, they go hand in hand with the visuals and set this movie apart from most comic book adaptations. Sunflower being the first song in history going double-diamond is no surprise given how popular this movie is.
The foreshadowing for the origin of the second movies villain is amazing and a great laugh, it happens during an amazing sequence where we are introduced to Doc Ock in this universe, Kathryn Hahn does a good job in the role. The Prowler is another fantastic antagonist in this movie, may be the most complex side plot of the film given the dynamic between him and Miles, a very well written character and his scenes with Miles are powerful in progressing Miles arc.
The different interactions with the many Spider-Men was a lot of fun and you could make spin offs about any given one of them, glad they are bring Noir back as Nic Cages Spider-Man is something everyone needs in their life! Loved how they all got to narrate their own introductions. The ‘What’s up danger’ scene is one of the best from any movie of the 2010’s it’s mind blowing and the team are beyond super talented. No scene feels out of place and it’s 2 hours that flies by without any thought of looking at a phone or getting distracted.
Loved this movie when it came out, love this movie now. It’s a great watch anytime and if you’ve got a little spidey fan they are gonna love it I know my 4 year old did.
