Finally got round to watching a version of mad max before going to see the new one tomorrow. I love this movie, it’s always been a top 50 movie since the first viewing. George Millers pacing and lighting, mixed with the unrivaled action and incredible story make this a 10/10 in every sense.
Tom Hardy may suppose to be the main character but Furiosa delivers the true main character performance. Charlize Thereon is incredible and proves how amazing an actress she is. The relationship Max and Furiosa build is organic and feels natural, the journey they go on, well we all know about that it’s incredible and something you’ve never experienced on screen before. The antagonist, Immortan Joe is extremely memorable, a really cool, violent and sadistic villian and visually he is both disgusting and intimidating.
The color palette of this movie is gorgeous, the gradients used and the contrast when using flames and flashes is so cool, you can’t help but be in awe by the work done.
Really big fan of dystopian movies and this is one of my favorites, just an incredible story of survival of the fittest in a crazy savage wasteland, every scene is epic beyond scale. The set design is fascinating and has me wanting to pause the movie to take it all in.
The car action sequences last pretty much the whole movie and its exactly what I signed up for, we see some incredible shots and the design of these vehicles is so impressive, not to mention the costume design for these characters. The world building is beyond perfect and George Miller deserves all the credit in the world for making a damn near perfect spectacle.
An incredible score partnering all of this is what tips it over to the masterpiece category, it’s just incredible in every department.
The final sequence where Immortan Joe faces his fate is amazing work and one fun death scene. A satisfying ending to a perfect movie, an incredible feat by the whole team to create this special piece of media. Can’t wait to watch Furiosa tomorrow!
