So does anyone have one of those days where you're just bored and depressed for the entire day? Well, I have that now sadly. Possibly due to watching 2 pieces of shitema haha.
Anyway, I wanted to ask you guys how you feel about age restriction on watching movies in theaters. With Deadpool & Wolverine coming out, there has been a huge hype surrounding it and I just wanna see it in theaters to maximize the experience! The sad thing is, I can't, because I'm "too young". I don't know about the rules of every country on earth of course, but I sure do know that The Netherlands is really rough when it comes to age restriction. I get that it exists and it's necessary for some, but it's completely useless at the same time.
So here we work with the All, 6+, 9+, 12+, 14+, 16+ and 18+ barriers. But, not all of them succeed at their point. Say you're 5 years old, you could watch a 6+ film in theaters. Say you're 7 years old, you could watch a 12+ film in theaters. Both under view of parents etc.. So the age restriction of 12+ is almost useless expect for giving the parent an idea of what the film is supposed to be. But then say you're a 12 year old or a 15 year old like me, you can't watch 16+ films nor 18+. Which I get the 18+, that makes sense to me. But the 16+, not even with a parent? It doesn't make any sense, especially since the 12+ barrier isn't really 12+. Yeah sure, 16+ films are mostly severe in the department of violent and sexual stuff, but 12+ is too. The only difference is showing the blood or showing the boobs. In my eyes that really doesn't matter. In the end it's the idea of what happens right, not what's shown? And if that was the case, then why the fuck is 12+ available for literal newborns. I hate it so much, especially since I'll end up watching the film at home. I don't see a difference between watching it in theaters or at home.
I feel like it should either be up to your parents, or all barriers should be what they say they are. 8 years old and go see Pirates of the Caribbean, that's fine... But 15 years old and go see Deadpool & Wolverine or John Wick, nahhh that's illegal. It's so stupid.
And yes, many people under the age of 16 just try to slip into a 16+ film. Some of them succeed, but they may ask for your ID, and if the staff sees you're not old enough, you're fucked.
As I said before, I don't really know how this is in other countries, so that's why I'm mentioning this here. I wanna know if this is a global problem or if it's just this boring and lazy ass's country's problem.
