I wasn’t expecting much considering how paper thin the plot of the first film was (affectionate) but this one really dialled up the camp all the way up whilst still honouring the characters and delivering a touching tribute to THEE Dame Maggie Smith.

This starts off a little slow but my God did it envelop me by the end! At first I thought this was just some black and white political satire but it’s so much more pertinent in 2024 than it ought to be. It’s both grim and empowering and charming at the same time.

Beautiful, charming, funny, devastating and quintessentially West Asian in its sensibility. Such an honour to have watched this at the BFI Flare festival.
