This film is absolutely phenomenal! Obviously it has a lot of hype surrounding it and after watching it, it deserves all the praise it gets! It just delivers on every single level! After writing this review I’m immediately going to watch some behind the scenes videos because from a technical perspective, it’s a groundbreaking accomplishment!
When I say that I was invested the entire time, I mean it! The film’s fast pace combined with exhilarating sequences throughout basically the entire run time, literally had my eyes fixed on the screen all the way through! There is never a dull moment, something’s always happening and it left me on the edge of my seat! These are also some of the best visuals I’ve ever seen in a film! The location is beautiful in the strangest way! The main colour pallet of blues, yellows, oranges and browns makes everything feel hot and I found myself to be immersed in this world because of that! The cinematography is just top notch stuff, the extreme long shots are breathtaking! I really wish that I’d seen this on the big screen because I bet for the people that did, it was an experience they’ll never forget! The score is also so well done as it creates tension and each piece of sound fits perfectly with it’s chosen scene! I also loved that a lot of the music was diegetic! George Miller’s direction is masterful, there’s no other word to describe it! He deserves all the awards for everything because just look at this masterpiece he’s created! His vision and passion is clear as day on screen and I’m now very keen to check out more of his work! Now as for the cast, Tom Hardy does an excellent job of conveying this mysterious character who really is a mystery all the way through the film! I thought he did such a good job with aligning us with his character and I though he was incredible in the third act! Charlize Theron is a powerhouse here, her character has been through so much and Theron adds this quality to her that makes her instantly likeable! She’s also so badass! In fact, all the women in the film are amazing! I had no idea Zoe Kravitz was part of the cast so I was delighted to see her and she’s very strong! But the performance that surprised me the most was Nicholas Hoult’s! I mean wow he did put his heart and soul into his role! His character has a lot of character development and Hoult makes him terrifying at the start, and super likeable in the middle and end! He really made an impression on me! The story is so good to get invested in! The writing is excellent and it really takes you along for the ride! It’s just a phenomenal cinematic masterpiece that everyone should see!
Overall, Mad Max: Fury Road is one of the best films I’ve ever seen! I strongly believe that it’s the best movie ever made from a technical perspective! I will definitely be revisiting this one in the future and I urge you to watch it if you haven’t already because you will be blown away!
