I’m gonna go with it was fun. Micheal Keaton looked great and Beetlejuice was the star of this show in my opinion. The addition of the Bobs were cute as well.
There’s a lot more characters in this film which can make for some red herrings (Dolores). But hey, this movie came out 30 something years after the first so they had to create some story that didn’t just depend on the first film.
That said, the original film was 1988. High time for great practical FX and artistry when Tim Burton’s art was more VFA rather than cgi. This film is 2024, a product of a world who is constantly consuming cgi and AI imagery. But I will say it is cgi-lite compared to other later Burton films like Alice in Wonderland etc…
Delia Deetz is amazing. I had no idea prior to this film that Jeffery Jones was a pedo—so they killed him off properly. One weird thing that stands out is how Lydia Deetz character is weak and diminished in this film. She’s obviously a celebrated character among fans so it sits a bit weird. Jenna Ortega did great.
This was a fun film but I would not like to see another Beetlejuice film made. Let the guy rot peacefully in the afterlife already.
