I was very pleasantly surprised with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. It didn’t feel tooooo forced and vibes were definitely there.
Right off the bat, I’ll say that I felt Delores was incredibly unnecessary. Take away the whole storyline and you do lose Wolf, but nothing else matters. They could have just had Beetlejuice do something to try to get to the real world this breaking a law or something. She felt like a very sad afterthought. However, what I found to be the worst part to be how they chose to have Lydia be so weak as an adult. I understand she had a tough go and sees ghost, but she’s a strong women, I didn’t like seeing that. But, Justin Theroux is so good at being a goon, it was kind of worth it.
I felt the core three, brought their original essence 100%!
I thought they did a wonderful job with the loss of Jeffrey Jones, it was a great way to tie him in. I absolutely loved it when Delia finds him at the end! 😆😆 she’s so self obsessed but clearly loves him.
Jenna was a delightful addition. Of course I wanted to smack the shit out of her in the beginning, so well done. I instantly thought Jeremy was a ghost, but I couldn’t figure out how he was outside and how his parents were still there. So, that was a nice little moment.
I would have liked to see more scary Beetlejuice! More tricks. But, he wasn’t trying to scare anyone for the plot.
The ending was decent. Which part was all a dream?! Because Beetljuice does say something like, “I just love a dream sequence,” so was it a dream even that far back? Or just after Lydia and Astrid get away?! I guess we’ll find out in Beetljuice x3.
My 12 year old cousin went and hadn’t watched the first like I bugged her too!!!! But, she loved it!
Oh, the dance sequence was good, but not as iconic…for now.
