How the Grinch Stole Christmas 2000
"but what if it's a cruel prank? what if it's a cash bar?" is an underrated line in here

May December 2023
Until this dropped on Netflix, I knew ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about it--and then twitter had to fuckin ruin almost all of it. I wish I knew nothing going into it, but it was still a really powerful watch. Everyone is in top form, but like most people are saying, Charles Melton really holds his own against Portman and Moore. His performance is insane--he really does embody both a 12-year-old and a 30-something-year-old all at once, and your heart aches for him. Also flabbergasted that people can't see some of the melodramatic comedy in this---people need to stop taking movies so seriously

Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. 2023
What a WONDERFUL surprise best of the year. I cried like a baby
I really enjoyed that this not only focuses on Margaret's journey and growth, but on her mother's too. It's interesting to see both sides of the coin--i'm not quite a mother yet but I'm obviously not a child either, but I can still remember these milestones in my life. So wonderfully touching. I'm an absolute sucker for The Wind by Cat Stevens playing in any movie.

Dream Scenario 2023
Nicolas Cage is in top form in this. He really ALMOST disappears into the role but it's hard for him to break out of his Nick Cage-ness. Really good pace, hysterically funny at times, and Dylan Gelula continues to be incredible in everything she's in.
