A fun enough prom slasher that works for good entertainment. The 80s vibes were fun, loved the soundtrack, most of the cast did a decent job. The kills were good, the Buzzsaw kill being my favorite. I was a little mad they killed off my favorite character way too soon. The final girl Lori was kinda meh, she didn’t really do much for me. If anyone should have been the final it was the character Megan. Where the movie failed…
As someone who felt Talk to Me was a pretty average horror movie, not bad, but a bit overhyped, I thought Danny and Michael Phiippou’s follow film Bring Her Back was much better. This one isn’t as overtly horror as Talk To Me, but this one heavily relied on the sense of dread and psychological horror. However, we did get some really gnarly body horror and gore moments that made me cringe badly. I will…
As someone who has waited years for a new Final Destination movie, I was not disappointed at all. The movie starts out with an intense and uneasy bang that has a great build up. Other scenes follow this build up like we know and love from our death scenes in the franchise. This is also very much the darkest and saddest entry of the franchise as we are dealing with a family as our protagonists. The concept they use for…
As a big fan of Phantom of the Opera the musical and of course horror, I fricken loved this movie. I loved the concept, I loved the full on horror approach. Making the Phantom this brutal killer and having Leatherface tendencies was awesome. I loved Robert Englund in the title role, Jill Schoelen was great as our final girl. And then I really enjoyed appearances by Bill Nighy and Molly Shannon.
God damn this movie was a blast. If you enjoyed Liam Neeson’s Non-Stop and Bullet Train with Brad Pitt, you’ll enjoy the hell outta this one. It’s a fun action-comedy with a great amount of both. Once the plane takes off, it’s basically non-stop action the rest of the movie. Josh Hartnett honestly delivers my new favorite performance of his here. He is having such a blast with this role. He kicks ass in numerous scenes (all of the fight…
Definitely my favorite horror take on Cinderella so far. I like that it was focused on the titular “ugly stepsister” while still simultaneously telling the Cinderella part of the story. You definitely feel bad for this girl and all that she gets put through. This is all in her desperate attempt to be beautiful, to please her mother, and save her family financially. This doesn’t vilify Cinderella by any means, but it does give us a different look at the…
Clown in a Cornfield is unfortunately a very average, though at times fun slasher. I think it definitely could have gone harder though. They completely trimmed down the big massacre that was in the book and only relegated it to our main group of teens. The kills themselves are decent, but so many are done really quick or off screen, and also not as brutal as they are in the book. I know I shouldn’t compare it to the book,…
Very much a 2000s teen movie. I didn’t hate it, it kept my attention for the most part. The cast does a descent job as well. My biggest issue is with the script and how I wish that the Skulls were developed more. They seemed relatively harmless until the main events happen. I think they should have made the society more sinister which would have made the film’s main events make more sense.
Good movie, great acting, but I think the ending could have been drawn out more and some of the first act could have been trimmed out. It got a little repetitive, but I totally see why it has such an iconic status in Black Cinema.
Now this is how you SHOULD kick off a new Phase in the MCU. The story perfectly sets us up for what is to come while giving us this group of anti-heroes who have fantastic chemistry and are mostly super well-written. I say mostly because I do feel like Ghost/Ava could have been fleshed out more. But even that aside you do develop a huge attachment to these characters and are just waiting for their “assemble” moment, and when we…
