A fascinating piece of art. I had dreams about it. As a listener of the big picture podcast, I think I side more with Adam Nayman's view of the film.
Pretty much every choice the director made was incredible and beautiful. Just one scene doesn't sit right with me where the metaphor becomes too textual.
The performances are fantastic, Brody was made for this role. Seeing the American experience and the 1950s through this lens was transporting.
Everyone's shock that this movie was made for only $10 million is correct. Movies made with the budget the size of the GDP of a developing country is unethical.
