Some of the best directing this year I've seen, so quietly confident, subtly powerful and poetically profound. Huge fan of the score of this one, the film has quite a few passages of quiet or pure diegetic sound but is occasionally spliced with Topshe's beautiful jazzy piano tracks that only serve to accentuate the beauty and bustling nature of Mumbai. Such a breathtakingly romantic film generally, the cave scene, the poem Prabha receives and those final moments all had me rather emotional. For a film about aimlessly drifting through life, cities and seemingly immutable circumstances, Kapadia's film reminds me of the simple yet over-powering presence love, both platonic and romantic, can be in one's life.
