Marvel could take hits with experiments within the genre such as Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man but at this prestigious level of dynamic character of Captain Marvel? Times are changing. Nia DaCosta does an admirable job behind the camera injecting enthusiasm and charisma into what is an otherwise simplistic, slow, predictable and thus redundant entry into this saga. The Marvels throughout - aside from the terrific Iman Velanni who has enthusiasm - is lifeless and comatose. Larson and Parrris have little chemistry and stilted awkwardness the feature never tonally overcomes and just stagnates proceedings. The narrative itself is rushed without literally any depth but verbal exposition given (yawn!) and the wonderfully Zowe Ashton left to rot within a held back role.
