letterboxd's about to tell me "you've reviewed this film too many times"
when a movie feels like reading a novel and you let it do its thing and wait and enjoy the ride, there's nothing better.

I think I was always rewatching it for the vibe and the laughs but I'm only now getting some details of a plot that I never really cared for and it's even beautiful. This adds a new layer to the dumb-fun-vibey-character and story-that I have a thing for-movie.
this was my review when I (re)watched Inherent Vice last time:
"this movie is nonsense and kinda awful and dumb and pointless and a waste of time and messy and it's the best movie of all time in this genre"
I was only wrong for one little detail. I rated it 4.5 stars.

I'm choosing blasphemy for Christmas and I'm going to say that, on my fourth or fifth viewing, I'm completely devastated in seeing Laura Palmer suffering worse than Jesus Christ. Mel Gibson must've been a Twin Peaks fan.
watch it always with the Missing Pieces. It becomes all so much more dream-like, or rather nightmarish.
I said in my previous reviews that you must be familiar with the show to understand why this is a cult classic, so this time I cheated a little; I rewatched S2 finale, then Fire Walk with Me and the Missing Pieces right after, for a complete experience.
If you think of it as a 2h Twin Peaks episode, it may be the best twin peaks episode (prior to The Return) and it's incredible. Everything is there, plus brand new…
I stand by my opinion from my first watch that you will probably love it if you saw the show but I can't see how anybody who hasn't could possibly understand any of this or like it. As a pure work of art and a character study, as a psychological horror, maybe that's a good answer.
This was me arguing with my doppelganger I suppose. See you again in 25 years.
If you're fully immersed in the Twin Peaks world it's hard not to enjoy this movie. It's ugly in the sense that what happens is ugly, uncomfortable, but that's what makes it so fucking good.
The reason why I wouldn't score it higher is because it probably doesn't work too good as a standalone movie if you haven't watched the show.
damn, this was a bit painful. I haven't been able to watch anything since
One of the all time great experiences one could have at night in the dark.
Incredible incredible incredible sound. It does so much you don't need the characters to say a word until they do. Terrifyingly beautiful images and still maybe the most gorgeous black and white cinematography ever seen.
It was made for less than 100k dollars and they kept running out of money to…
Third or fourth rewatch. I only now realize this is the best, most beautiful, most spiritual, greatest film of all time. It's actually humiliating for other movies to have to keep up with this; no movie in history has been able to do it so far. I'm dead serious and you know I'm right.
