• Doraemon: Nobita's Little Star Wars

    Doraemon: Nobita's Little Star Wars

    ★★★★½

Top tier Doraemon film! The odes to world cinema like ET, Star wars etc are really good. The characters are lovable. The hindi voice dubbing is solid and the visuals especially the space visuals are stunning to watch. Suneo and Shizuka dynamic was surprisingly good. My only gripe with this film is that the animators literally had no reason to put that naked Shizuka scene in there but they put it anyway 😑

  • Mission: Impossible III

    Mission: Impossible III

    ★★★★½

This got a little better in the rewatch. Mission impossible 3 feels like the turning point for the franchise. While Ethen Hunt is more or less a typical spy protagonist in the first 2 films (being played by Tom Cruise does him a lot of aura tho), this one opens with the emotionally vulnerable side of him and this is the best Ethen has been till then. Tom Cruise is really underrated as an "actor" and he emotes really well…

  • Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld

Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld

    ★★★½

This was enjoyable. The Assaj Ventress episodes were a big nothingburger. It's just Filoni telling "Look, I didn't retcon that novel!". However the Cad Bane episodes were good, he is one of the coolest star wars characters and the writers did justice by not giving him a typical tragic backstory and keeping him as the heartless menacing guy he always was. They locked in with his story!
Better than Tales of the Empire, but with the title "Tales of the…

  • Iruvar

    Iruvar

    ★★★★★

I first saw this when I was a child on cable, I had a blurry memory of this movie. Re watched this, and gotta say, this is Mani Ratnam's magnum opus. This is poetic art! While the movie begins with a title card that shows this is entirely a work of fiction, Iruvar is clearly inspired by the lives of MGR and Karunanidhi, as people, artists and politicians. Mohanlal and Prakash Raj excel at playing their characters Aanandhan and Tamil…

  • Havoc

    Havoc

    ★★★½

Not really anything special, but it was a gory fun time. The violent scenes and gore has weight to them rather than just being a blood bath show off. I dig the digital look of many of the scenes. Performances aren't that great, Tom Hardy just plays Eddie Brock and Forest Whitaker is Forest Whitaker. Overall decent.

  • The Graduate

    The Graduate

    ★★★★★

The Graduate is one of the best coming of age films I've seen. Dustin Hoffman plays Benjamin, a naive, awkward young man and he does a great job. Certain aspects of the character like his uncertainty about his future, loneliness and confusion were relatable. Though it was made in the 1960s, the film's exploration of these topics and the societal norms feels timeless. The dynamic between Dustin and Anne Bancroft and their sensual chemistry is awkward and engaging to watch…

  • Blow Out

    Blow Out

    ★★★★½

    Drinking game idea:
Take a shot everytime there's a split diopter shot onscreen. Pretty sure it's less than 20 shots, but enough to get one drunk.

  • Rocky

    Rocky

    ★★★★½

Nothing more to say than what's already been said. Classic underdog story that still holds up after 50 years of it's release! Sylvester Stallone was amazing as Rocky and I was surprised when I came to knew he wrote this movie in the opening scene. Talia Shire and him share a beautiful chemistry. Good portrayal of the show business in America. Loved the ending very much, eventhough he loses the match, it's one of the happiest and most endearing endings!

  • The Man Who Feels No Pain

The Man Who Feels No Pain

    ★★★★½

This is one of the coolest bollywood action films. I love that they took a real life medical condition and used it to create a unique concept for this cool movie. All the meta jokes and bollywood references landed very well and was entertaining. Vasan Bala is a competent director and his quirky style is very entertaining. Abhimanyu Dassani shines as Surya, the protagonist. Radhika Madan had a great screen presence. Her entry scene, with Nakhrewali playing in the background…

  • Black Mirror: Hotel Reverie

    Black Mirror: Hotel Reverie

    ★★★★½

I didn't expect to have tears in my eyes for a Black mirror episode... This was really moving. This basically felt like a mini movie, a good one for sure. The concept itself was very interesting. Milking an IP for a streaming movie with AI tech and a popular star is not a very distant fantasy. When the episode began, I thought this was gonna be another commentary on corporations like Common people. But once the inciting incident happens and…

  • Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

    ★★★★★

Rogue One is still the best Star wars film that was created under Disney. While on paper it's just telling the story hinted in the opening crawl of A New Hope, Rogue one actually adds more to the original trilogy while not being a complete nostalgia bait. It introduces new characters and tells a standalone story of the rebellion instead of trying to reinvent a previous successful formula. I rewatched this as Andor season 2 drops in 2 days and…
