The ending of this one is almost exactly the same as the first movie and Marco Beltrami even uses the same Paul Haslinger's track to score it, which is the best example for how useless this movie is. The runtime is hilariously padded with 7-minute long unnecessary prologue and the scattered flashbacks from the first movie, that must have taken at least 10 minutes altogether.
Between those endings there's a very dumb and boring plot where the only thing that captured my interest was the ridiculous sex scene. What on Earth was he thrusting into? Does he not know where the vagina is?

The battle between the werewolves and vampires takes a back seat as our heroine has some unfinished business with her own kind.
Again, the film is pretty engaging thanks to its great lore, which has been expanded as we learn more about the betrayals and lies that surround these two clans and which we had already been given a taste of in the first movie. When I revisited Underworld, I was just looking for a fun, over-the-top action film with monsters, and some of the other trappings of horror. Unfortunately, however, it didn't really deliver on the action component, with the exception of the final ten minutes or so. Well, this sequel more than makes up for that. This really hit the spot. Where the first one felt mostly bereft of inventive action sequences, this thing is bursting at the seams with them. It also amps up the horror side of the equation as well, with a metric ton of delightful gore and brutal kills. And, there's plenty of monster on monster action this time around.

Underworld: Evolution is marginally better than the first installment, mainly because they allow for some true werewolf/vampire carnage instead of relying on lame gun fights (of which there are still plenty). The big bad’s character design is also pretty memorable and put to good use during the car chase sequence.
But why the hell is Scott Speedman’s character always absolutely drenched in these movies? He looks like he just got out of the shower most of the time. Is this what the ladies wanted back in 2006? Or was Hollywood just trying REALLY hard to make him happen?

much like the first underworld, this is pretty predictable with a plot that's kind of all over the place, but still very fun. it's just so absurd that you can't help but enjoy it.

Picking up where the blue-tinged, new millennium-gothic "Underworld" left off, Len Wiseman's "Underworld: Evolution" fills the screen with more of the same vampire versus werewolf action that drove the first film. The war between the supernatural beasts continues, mixing horror and action to entertaining effect. As with the first film, the style outweighs the substance; but, still, the sequel offers a blood-soaked, bullets-a-flyin' good time.

What I really liked about "Underworld: Evolution" is how seamlessly it follows its predecessor with the open ending. At first you might think it's the same movie. Unfortunately, there isn't much story to follow. It's about the family of the first vampires and werewolves. The old atmosphere isn't quite achieved either. Basically, the movie is just a series of exaggerated action sequences. That gets annoying very quickly and when both parties are immortal, the tension is gone.
I find it funny when films such as these put arbitrary titles in their titles. It could literally be called Underworld: Lawrence of Arabia and it’d still be redundant, which is just the pinnacle of these sorta flick’s performative nature. Anyway, not as surreal as the first but still a gothic tonic ! Kate Beckinsale can beat my ass in her ridiculous spandex attire any day she likes
Great movie with awesome special effects but all the flashback was extremely annoying, I know it's part of the plot to see the past, but it bugged the hell out of me. Overall though, this was a cool flick and Kate Beckinsale looked sexy as always.
