Glenn’s shoulders must hurt from carrying this entire film by herself
extremely good prank of the academy to force us all to watch this movie
Mr. Castleman: Without this woman, I am nothing.
The Wife(2018): Lol same!
“without this woman, i am nothing”
completely performance driven but in a way that works for me. i thought people might be overhyping her here, but glenn close really nails every single scene. by the final act i was so fully enthralled that i was on the brink of tears. she single handedly did THAT
Hi Letterboxd! Quick question: How come you guys don't like good movies?
Okay, that's kind of loaded. I mean, obviously you all like the classics. The Godfather and Pulp Fiction will have praise heaped on them constantly (except by edgelords). When it comes to contemporary movies, however, we all seem to be voluntarily buying into a terrible groupthink. Are we really all gonna sit here and let Mission Impossible: Fallout, which has a trite and inconsequential script, actually end up, at the time of writing this review, sitting at the #6 spot for the entire year? Just because it was cool seeing Tom Cruise jump out of a helicopter?
Hey, I get it. "I like what I like," you might…
glenn’s character really said: i support men’s rights.....men’s rights to shut the fuck up!!!!
for crying out loud she has the same FLIGHT ATTENDANT in both directions and it's a FRAMING DEVICE??? Glenn's good but this might be the most painfully plotted movie of the year
i’ll get glenn close that oscar even if i have to steal from the academy myself
Strong performances. Close will probably be nominated.
The Wife criticizes her husband’s writing for having “stilted dialogue” and then seconds later says “Just because I don’t love your novel doesn’t mean I don’t love you.”
Feels like an adaptation of a play written by a grad student who's unproductively really into Ibsen and Pinter.
MAYBE if you had a writing career THAT YOU WERE PASSIONATE ABOUT, then you would have a writing career actually worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize, but you DON’T.
