„A big family, millions of miles separated, bonded by a common destiny...“
Our solar system
Hi everybody, Corona time is Documentary time. I have watched a few movies of that genre in the last two and a half months. Over this way I will introduce you the best of this period. Starting with „The Planets“, what a beautiful, high class animated Docu this was. The kind of storyrelling wasn't something special. People sitting on chairs and share their knowledge about Physic, Biology, Geology, Astronomy and so on, but the visuality of this 5 episodes long BBC production is mesmerizing. The episodes takes us on a journey throughout…

Before we can start looking into space we have to know our own backyard and this documentary series gives its audience an interesting, beautifully animated and easy to follow overview over our solar system (which I mean by "backyard" at the beginning of the sentence).

Makes you feel a bit insignificant, really

While this doesn't bring a lot of new stuff to the table if you've already seen Wonders of the Solar System (another show hosted by Brian Cox), it's still cool to go on that journey from planet to planet and moon to moon again.
It's another typical astronomy show explained in basic laymans terms, with mostly computer generated images of the planets, moons and their atmospheres. Brian Cox talks about some theories and possibilities of how certain standout features could have originated and why things could be like they are, with emphasis on could, because theories about these things are ever evolving as more information comes to light.
Personally i think Wonders of the Universe is still his best work,…

This was absolutely incredible! I learned so much about the planets, and also realised there’s so much we don’t know yet!
-
Simply awe inspiring five part doc about our solar system. I watched the American version narrated by Zachary Quinto.

i have the flu so naturally it's time to deep dive into some old hyperfixations that make me feel so very insignificant in the universe, narrated by our favourite smiley boy🤓

Space is dope and I am but a miniscule speck of dust on a miniscule speck of dust on a miniscule speck of dust on a tiny pebble
-
I love shit like this, even if I knew a bunch of this stuff already. I would like to see the BBC version, but I guess I'll take this PBS/NOVA version regardless
-
Really informative with some pretty stunning visuals. Also, space is pretty cool :)
