Yeah I made this movie and I’m damn proud of it.
Got a problem with that pal?
(I’ve been in NYC all week, sorry)
5 stars for surviving the shoot and to everyone involved in this crazy flick we hope you dig.
Thank you to everyone who has been passionate about the film on here so far.
Love or hate, I’m just happy you watched it.
One note: the sexy moustached orderly?
Maybe too much.
As screened at both USC and on the other side of town near UCLA, I will admit that yes I directed this film and giving it 5 stars for all the hard work everyone on this film gave to help us make it and yes Im trolling the algorithm with 5 stars but fuck it; as much as Im sick of the flick (trust me all filmmakers do on their own films) and know I have to watch it a bunch more times during screenings, I can still watch it and be proud of what we were able to somehow pull off.
That we were able to watch it with crowds these last two screenings that has such insightful questions…
When “Re-Animator” director Stuart Gordon died in 2020, he left behind a blood-soaked legacy that includes a handful of giddily exploitative horror classics and a legion of genre filmmakers who grew up in the shadow of his low-budget Lovecraft adaptations.
In that light, it would be hard to imagine a more fitting tribute to Gordon’s work than a goofy-smart and gore-happy wad of immaculate trash about an ancient Entity that inhabits the body of an undersexed psychiatrist played by Heather Graham. Lucky for us, Gordon ensured that we wouldn’t have to; based on the Lovecraft story “The Thing on the Doorstep” and written by Gordon’s longtime collaborator Dennis Paoli, “Suitable Flesh” is one of the last projects the late schlockmeister…
A Day in the Life of the Least Ambitious Demon.
My introduction to American TV series began with "Supernatural". Sure, it had its ups and downs in the form of "season 6 🤢" and that cunt of a finale 🤮, but it was still a really great show that I would easily recommend to anyone new to American TV shows and is a horror fan. It had everything that makes a show perfect. But one aspect that stood out was how it portrayed demons. Each demon had a purpose, whether serving Lucifer or Crowley, the "King of Hell," or simply causing chaos with flair. Over the years, this influenced my thought process and added another chapter in my book of…
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Honestly never thought our weird queer little Lovecraftian Stuart Gordon love letter about body/gender swapping would have passed muster to be on our favorite show, The Last Drive-in, let alone get 4 stars from JB himself (sorry, LB trolls).
Look, I know it isn’t perfect, Im the first person to pick out every flaw (and trust me I have more issues than you do) but the sheer fact that we were watching the show in Mississippi every Friday during production and for it to be featured on the show AND get the chance to be on with the hosts was truly a dream come true and I couldn’t be prouder of our weird little baby and everyone who helped it…
sex so good it made me see horrors beyond my comprehension
Stop what you’re doing✋🏻& watch this deranged masterpiece ASAP🤪.
Body switching chaos↔️ with a horny, evil, alcoholic, bisexual, demon spirit😈 starring queen of my heart, Heather Graham😫.
Nobody has ever looked as hot smoking a cigarette🚬 and day drinking liquor🥃 than her. Campy sleazy horror that is totally being overlooked.🙏
Yeah I love it! Sue me…
ugh my husband only wants to have sex with me when im possessed by an eldritch horror
5 stars for the crowd at Fantasia getting even the smallest, dumbest jokes and Easter eggs scattered throughout the movie to keep us amused.
Seeing it with this crowd confirmed a lot of thoughts I had since this was only the 3rd time I’d seen it with an audience on the big screen and only makes me so proud of every artist in those credits on both sides of the screen that busted their buttflesh for the cause to bring our weird vision to warped life …
For filmmakers, I highly suggest “test screening” your film with this amazing Fantasia crowd it REALLY helps.
So yeah, I dig our movie, warts and all…what can you do? 🤷♂️
As screened at the 2023 Fantasia Film Festival.
Not scary enough to be horror, not funny enough to be camp, and despite the aesthetic matching up, not sexy enough to do the 90s Skinemax erotic thriller thing very well...what are we doing here?
A Lovecraftian horror flick that’s campy, trampy and horny, but not porny (for better or worse). Heather Graham plays the lead in this body swap horror that felt like a throwback to 90’s era midnight fare, perhaps a cross with Gilbert Gottfried’s Up All Night and Red Shoe Diaries. I found myself waffling in my enjoyment of this, though. Graham in particular doesn’t always sell her performance as intentionally campy, and it really just felt like bad acting at times. (Maybe that’s a credit to her. I’m not sure, and that’s part of why I waffled so much). There is a fair amount of creative camera work here, again dialing up the 90’s era vibes and there is a pretty solid amount…
