Pete Riley is a 17-year-old who lands a part-time job at a multiplex in his neighbourhood. He and his friends are excited when it's announced that the theatre will play host to the premier of a major motion picture, with a number of Hollywood celebrities in attendance. However, when the big night comes, Pete has to contend with disappearing staff, malfunctioning equipment, and a broken popcorn machine.

I used to work at a movie theater and it’s 100% like this. In fact 2-3 times a week we had some dude dressed up as a phantom causing chaos around the place.

There's a phantom at my megaplex... we call him Noisy Darrell.
There's a big movie premier at a megaplex and the megaplex gets haunted by a phantom and little kids try to find the phantom and that's what happens. This movie has a bizarre charm to it that I didn't see coming. It's kind of like it was written by a mystery writer after he had just been watching the Hallmark Channel and drinking heavily. I get that this movie is for kids and I try to take that into account, but this is still a bit boring in the middle and my wife thinks the family is a little too smug. Other than that, I found this to be appropriately whimsical.
Fun kids mystery, nothing more nothing less.
phantom of the megaplex is one of THE best disney channel original movies and i'm sick of it not getting the hype it deserves. go argue with the wall if you don't agree
The story of a workaholic teenager dealing with a ghost (who’s just there to be a dick) and the average entitled American movie goer (who’s also there to be a dick).

I’m going to be like Mickey Rooney in this movie when I grow up. Constantly blabbering about the “magic of the movies,” while every person who comes in contact with me yells at me to “shut up, old man!”
While not technically a junior slasher, Phantom of the Megaplex is mystery-slasher structured and is the perfect way to introduce the template to the little movie maniacs in your life.
