Michael Matthews’ “Love and Monsters” is the rarest kind of movie these days: A fun, imaginative, genre-mashing adventure that was made with a modest amount of big studio money and destined for a theatrical release despite not being adapted from a comic book or carried by a major star. i think dylan o'brien is a good actor and i'm hoping somebody comes along and gives him the good comedy himbo role he's destined for. this man could be 'burn after reading'ing right fucking now. dylan baby. call me!
now THIS is a FUN MOVIE! dylan o brien does a FANTASTIC job, this role was made for him( it was giving stiles stilinski in an apocalypse but i digress.) i loved the cool stylistic choice for a monster apocalypse, it was so fun and such a fresh exciting story to watch, i loved seeing a new post apocalyptic world that i didn’t know the rules of! very surprised that i loved this so much but i really would recommend to so many people if i could, sweet fun and built an interesting world!
nominated at the oscars for visual effects? yeah i get it, i thought it was partially practical effects, but idk i just thought it looked great and didn’t go uncanny valley, but this is also from a girl who knows nothing about vfx.

Surprisingly bittersweet and unself-conscious, directed with some real economy, and featuring terrific creature VFX and the best movie dog since Brandy the Pit Bull.
Ich bin tatsächlich ein bisschen traurig geworden beim Gucken von „Love & Monsters“. Nicht weil der Film allzu dramatische Höhen erklimmen würde. Dafür ist das hier viel zu leichtfüßig und verspielt. Nein. „Love & Monsters“ ist die Sorte Film, die es selbst in einer normalen Filmwelt schwer hätte, zwischen Superhelden-Omnipräsenz und Franchise-Dauerfeuer aufzufallen. Nun ist gerade aber eben gar nichts normal, weshalb Paramount dieses Kleinod mitten in die Pandemie und damit das sichere VOD-Vergessen released hat.
