Krysten Ritter is an actual goddess. This shows her struggling with being a single mum. She's her usual perfect self. It's not revelatory but it's a neat distraction.
There's some awkward jokes about Rachel Bilson being a virgin and wearing skimpy outfits too, if that floats your boat.
krysten plays a struggling single mother trying to balance life with a child after an accidential pregnancy.
now, i'm not trying to make this sound like something it's not, it's still 'just' a quirky rom com, but it's also an ultimately very touching and satisfying coming of age story about a young woman coming to terms with motherhood. it's got a positive message, it's feel good stuff, and it gave me plenty of my trademark goosebumps all towards the ending.
i firmly stand by krysten ritter being an underrated actress. watch her emotional scenes in this and tell me you didnt cry. she carries these quirky roles and from one second to the next rips at your heart during dramatic moments.…
It's a slice of life movie I guess. It's kind of messy and sometimes I'm not even sure why the characters are angry at each other, or reacting a certain way, but I kind of like these people dealing with life movies. People with no real problems, who live in a fantasy world where everything is easy in spite of them thinking its difficult. But it's kinda cute to watch it all happening, and let's be honest, the actresses have enough charm to make this work. Even to get me past that the baby looks like Patton Oswalt. Seriously.
I had no idea that Kat Koiro was one of the directors for She-Hulk. But I can kind of see it.
I needed a comedy, and this was the best Netflix could do for me.
I want to stab this movie repeatedly in the eye.
And then I want to die.
I’ve been watching Krysten Ritters filmography.
She’s a fantastic actress who’s proved herself versed in all genres. She’s great in Refuge, Listen Up Philip and The Hero.
Krysten Ritter co-produced this sugary confection about raising a child around vapid friends?! The plot isn’t important. Ritter saves and steals every scene while sending co-stars Kate Bosworth & Rachel Bilson back to acting class
I really wasn't expecting much going into this movie based on the mediocre reviews, but I ended up having a fun time. It's not a great movie by any means, with multiple weak comedic and dramatic moments. There were still enough jokes that made me laugh, enough charm in the cast, and enough clear passion put in to keep me entertained. Krysten Ritter really carries the film, though. This is really her movie as she gets all of the best scenes and gives the best performance here. She's funny, wholesome, and sympathetic in the perfect doses, never making the comedy too over-the-top or the drama too melodramatic. The rest of the cast is fine, but I really do wish Jason…
i was turned off by the reviews on this movie but, this was a fun little watch. nothing too groundbreaking, just a quirky slice of life/romcom movie about young women trying to find a place in life. some jokes were a hit or miss but, then i realised this was released in the early 2010s. also, i was in awe of the clothing in this — the hipster, mix and match, the business casual, etc., just perfect for the time this took place.
I like Krysten Ritter. I like Kate Bosworth. I like Rachel Bilson. The movie…not quite.
This was so obviously written and directed by a woman and it's fucking glorious! Fully developed (and compelling flawed) characters against the classic rom-com deception trope... Loved it!
"It's not a self-help book Tom it's a sociological study!"
Basically, Krysten Ritter, Kate Bosworth and Rachel Bilson are in a platonic (boo) domestic partnership in which they all try to deal with being at totally different stages of their lives while peacefully sharing the same living space. One is a single mother trying to get back out there, one is a sexually liberated business bitch looking to further her career but keep having lots of fun and one finds suspicious job opportunities on cregslist.
This is a great example of film from a female perspective. None of it feels stereotypical, they all have something to them and their friendships and struggles to maintain them are worth buying into. Super under the radar, but well worth your time. Well made, well written and it really feels like getting to be a part of these women's very different lives as they try to find a healthy intersection.
"Life Happens" and bad movies happen, too. Zing!
Here we have yet another movie about 30 somethings dealing with not being 20 somethings, and OMG! Dealing with babies!
Having a baby must be hellish experience. I've seen "Friends with Kids" and "End of Love" and I slept through "What to Expect when your expecting" (seriously got through about 2 minutes before dozing off) and they all show the same screamy baby hell. The kind of hell that takes you away from Hollywood clubs, and your sex life, and just living, dawg. And while there's obvious truth to all of this (yes, sacrifices are made to be a parent) - I refuse to believe that once you have a baby that…
