  Hidden in the skeleton of this movie is a fascinating film about how poisonous fandom & hero worship can be and how unhealthy it is to demand that others have same feelings towards pop culture that you do. Masking those bones is a... fine... romantic comedy that proves underutilizes Rose Byrne’s true comedic potential and Chris O’Dowd’s true dramatic potential!!

  But hot damn, what a good soundtrack. If you’re gonna make a movie about a musician, you gotta at least nail the soundtrack.

  EDIT: jesus the poster for this movie that appears on letterboxd is awful. it took me forever to realize it was earbuds forming the shape of two faces and not poorly-drawn ovaries

  It is an awkward yet enjoyable light hearted rom-com. Though the inter personal relationship is heightened and slightly on the superficial side, the charmingly funny cast in Ethan Hawke, Rose Byrne and Chris O’Dowd are really great together and make the proceedings engaging enough. Loved the way the film connects different human perspectives to art based on life circumstances. Another major upside is the lovable soundtrack. Though it offers nothing special and has its offbeats, it ends up a simple sweet one time watch.

  I finished reading Juliet, Naked at the end of 2011, a minor Nick Hornby novel. Some of his work is great and some of it is blah. Never in a million years could I imagine that someone would actually bring it to the big screen. I was apprehensive at first, and if I didn't have Movie Pass, perhaps I would have passed on it.

  There are only a few times I can actually say this, but I think it turned out better than the book. A universe is created where we can see and hear Tucker Crowe (Ethan Hawke), a hip singer-songwriter from the '90s that has faded away into obscurity.

  a film with a plot centered around a character being obsessed with ethan hawke has majorly called me out. i would simply put my life on the line for that man!!!!! this was so cozy and fun to watch, i was rooting for annie and tucker to get together the entire time. rose and ethan have such amazing chemistry :')
