the experience of watching this was like if I was watching unicorn store but the entire movie there was a sniper perched just outside my window ready to take me out at any point I don’t know when it’ll be and I don’t know if I’m imagining it so I just continue to watch the movie and not make eye contact but I’m really on edge
Netflix
Alison Brie's first screenplay is ambitious and original. There is a massive tone shift throughout, but I was hooked the entire time. A lot of people seem to be rating this badly because it "doesn't know what it wants to be" but I disagree. I think it just wants to be a bunch of different things, and I'm here for it.
The characters started out as being instantly lovable, but what is at first an entertaining comedy slowly reveals all sorts of different layers of awesomeness. Its also a drama, sci fi, and a bit of an art film. Its like a paranoid schizophrenic Napoleon Dynamite.
I also don't feel it was trying to offer any sort of commentary…
Crazy how I held off watching this for so long because of all the negativity surrounding it, and Netflix was yet to produce a film that actually wow’d me and then this came out of nowhere.
Crazy how Alison Brie’s performance will go completely unnoticed because of the film’s scope and distribution, when it’s probably one of the best female performances I’ve seen so far this year.
Crazy how this is movie has been scrutinized for being an inaccurate depiction of schizophrenia, when in actual fact, all I see is a strikingly brave and heartfelt portrayal of mental illness.
Crazy how people think this movie is just ‘weird’ when all I felt was crippling waves of sadness watching the psychological collapse…
Weird flex but OK.
An interesting story about the symptoms of schizophrenia when untreated. The disease goes to a delusional state of complete reality loss. A good portrait of a terrible mental condition. An emotional one.
Alison Brie is superb.
I said "Weird flex but OK." because I liked the twisted part, but felt something missing.

Sarah: "My mom used to say that I have an overactive imagination."
SYNOPSIS: Sarah, a socially isolated woman with a fondness for arts and crafts, horses, and supernatural crime shows finds her increasingly lucid dreams trickling into her waking life.
Horse Girl is an achingly sad movie. In the first act of the film, I found the character development to be beautifully executed and I was rooting for Sarah. I was originally thinking that the film would slowly progress into an offbeat rom-com and was really surprised when it didn't. It's got a dark side to it.
It seems that…
ok but i watched this for matthew gray gubler and he only has 3 minutes of screen time
