friendly reminder that i hate the devil. holy shit, that kids teeth were the funniest thing ever, i could not stop laughing. jack black plays himself, who’s surprised? why the hell was he making pedophile jokes to this 11 year old boy. and yet again, why has he got this little boy alone in his hotel room. how do you have three wishes and don’t wish for your dead brother back.
Dear Santa is a film that should have heeded Don Henleys advice and stopped riding fences for so long. It needed to pick a lane and stick to it. Instead, it wants to appeal to the Rated R crowd and the PG crowd, and because of that, I fear it may appeal to neither. It's not raunchy enough or hilarious and lacks any sentimentality or heart warming messages. It's just a movie that exists and one that will probably be forgotten on streaming in a week or so if not sooner.

But I feel this movie sends a very poor message about trauma and healing. First off it’s dropped like a bomb that a brother died in an accident and that’s why the parents are arguing and there’s a divide with parenting roles. But then at the very end the parents make amends and start the healing process and are all happy again. Turns out it’s cause satan brought the brother back to life and the tragedy actually never happened so the movie could make a dumb joke. To me at least, this is in very poor taste because it tells the audience the only way a broken family can fix what’s broken and be brought back together after a horrific tragedy is for the tragedy to have actually never happened. Maybe that’s just me but I think that ruined the whole movie for me.
