CANDYMAN was a mixed bag of sweets and sours for me. Enjoyed Nia DaCosta’s haunting atmosphere, striking camerawork, the dark score & powerfully disturbing themes. But the economically rushed storytelling resulted in dull characters, a disjointed narrative & a messy examination of its many ideas.
