"Hi, Eli Roth. We're gonna remake Cabin Fever. Got any ideas for it?"
"Just fuck my shit up, fam."
"Say no more."
The original Cabin Fever has:
- charming weirdness that persists throughout
- Likeable cast that you actually care about
- freaky and effective scenes that still make me uneasy
- funny scenes that make the more horrific stuff easier to swallow
- just an all around good debut from take him or leave him Eli Roth
2016 Cabin Fever has:
-gender-swapped Deputy Winslow?
After watching the orignal and this one back to back, you can tell the difference.
I personally preferred the orignal better, I felt like they rushed the story line and tried to make it more Gorier, but I did like the cast better especially Bert.
Paul when she said "kill me" doesn't mean what you did... you made that 100% worse.
If you put a gun to my head forcing me to say one good thing about this just pull the trigger
Here's an actual line delivered in the first ten minutes: "A whole week up here? No GTA 5, no Black Ops 2, no Minecraft?"
"This is so fucked up" -One of them,
- Horror Hunt #24 (4/30): boxd.it/5wPL8 "Watch a horror remake"
Did we need to remake a 2002 film that was just okay? No we did not. This film did not have to be made and I'm unsure of why it was made but here we are... watching the remake. Cabin Fever is a film about city/country divides and our fear of gross things happening to us. In the age of quarantine it gains some status by satirizing the way we freak out about illness but overall this is a very bad movie. I was not a fan of the original and this one is just the original with worse acting.
It's almost…

Marcy: We're all gonna get it, we're all gonna get sick.Holy shit This remake is straight up garbage.
First 20 minutes, I already hate all the characters.
The characters just aren't as likeable as the original.
Hell, even the sequel is better.
Then this pile of shit, the gaming nerd, is the worst character to ever exist.
You have him crying because he can't play games, then he has a freaking assault rifle
and almost kills his friend, then his friend has zero reaction to it.
But worse character in the movie.
Not joking.
This remake had me rooting for the country people.
The effects are also bad, even the look of the dog.
The acting is…
Well, hi there.
What's the formula for a remake?
> Pay homage to the original.
> Still do something new with your film. Why remake a movie if you're gonna copy and paste?
> The technology likely improved so it's great to remake a film that maybe had potential but wasn't so strong in its execution.
With all of that in mind, the film crew surrounding Travis Zariwny and James Currier sat down and decided to remake... an Eli Roth movie. Yay! Or something.
Our replaceable walking meat bags rent an isolated cabin for a party and it's clear from the get-go that they're not the brighest candles on the cake and that things are off. One of the college kids literally gets…
A totally unnecessary remake that felt completely uninspired. It's almost identical line by line and shot by shot to the original, aside from the lack of the jovial melodies that were replaced here with a legit horror score which seemed to be the only aspect of legitimacy of this remake. The tonal changes here made this one feel less like a dark comedy and much more dark, and if it weren't for a couple of really poor performances here it might have worked. To be fair a couple of the scenes were slightly different to accommodate the removal of the comedy aspect of the feature, but these changes were as minor as a character being a different sex and a…
You're not looking so good.
-Deputy Winston
What is this shit? I thought it was weird that they were remaking Cabin Fever since, you know, it's only 14 years old, but they just made the exact same movie over again. What the hell?
It might not be on the same level as frame-per-frame "a la Gus Van Sant's Psycho" but holy shit is it ever close. Any differences between this film and the original are strictly superficial. A lot of the dialogue is even word for word the same.
The only thing this added was a few aerial shots, the first of which actually does a call back to The Shining. Now someone needs to tell director Travis Zariwny that…
I’m not even a big fan of the original, but compared to this atrocious remake it’s a masterpiece.
