The story of a man who turned the other cheek-and got punched in the nose.
Stan and Ollie play door-to-door Christmas tree salesmen in California. They end up getting into an escalating feud with grumpy would-be customer James Finlayson, with his home and their car being destroyed in the melee.

A guy refuses to buy a Christmas tree from Laurel and Hardy, one thing leads to another, and they end up destroying his house in a rage. It is an empirical fact that comedy is nowhere near this funny anymore.
Stan and Ollie are a pair of largely unsuccessful Christmas Tree salesmen in California, who after an angry encounter with homeowner, James Finlayson, lose the tattie and destroy his home. Finlayson in turn trashes their car and stock of Christmas Trees. Bunch of bloody hooligans.
Set in California and mostly on Finlayson's front lawn, this Christmas set short barely feels festive, however as you'd expect from the duo, there are a few chuckles to be had.
Laurel and Hardy cause mindless destruction just because James Finlayson is being a grinch. A house (his), car (theirs), and of course, the tree, become casualties in this piece of slapstick, watching by an ever-increasing crowd.
I love the policeman who simply sits and observes the mayhem, in which both parties are as bad as each other.
Short Comedy - Long before filmmaker Leo McCarey made his name directing feature films, he worked on dozens of shorts, especially comedies for MGM. And by all accounts, it was McCarey's idea, not that of producer Hal Roach, to pair Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy together as a comic duo in 1926. For this short, McCarey served as the supervising director over James W. Horne in his first of many productions with the pair, working from a script prepared by Laurel & Hardy veteran writer H.M. Walker.
As the film opens, we see Ollie and Stan traveling the streets of California selling Christmas trees door to door ... in July.…
3.5🎄🎄🎄 Laurel & Hardy just trying to sell some Christmas trees. It’s silly and a bit funny. And it’s Christmas trees… and it’s after 5 in the morning and I’m still trying to knit this blanket for my niece for Christmas.
Laurel & Hardy short displaying almost no creativity (I don't give # or star ratings to shorts)
The boys try to sell Christmas trees door to door, but when the second house they get to tells them to get lost they proceed to destroy the man's windows. Then after the homeowner trashes Laurel & Hardy's car they then demolish the man's piano.
Oddly, also making no sense, this short about Christmas tree selling was released in April which indicates that the whole concept of this production was weak all around.
Call it worthy of 5 stars if you like, but If everything Laurel & Hardy made is worth 5 stars than such a rating is meaningless as this is not even in the mid-tier of Laurel & Hardy's best productions.
