What the hell is wrong with people? This is one of the best Batman animated films ever. 6 great shorts by different Japanese studios and Kevin Conroy as Batman sign me the fuck up!
I dug this but one thing I couldn’t get over was the animation style in this one compared to the others.
I like and respect anime as much as the next guy but I feel like Batman isn’t supposed to look like an anime character. I also didn’t like how Bruce looked like a teenager or Batman looked like he had a bird’s beak. I’m sure it sounds like I’m being nit-picky but I just feel like there’s a standard notion of how Batman should look & this movie just strayed too far from it for my personal liking (not sure how whiny that sounds).
Kevin Conroy does a great Batman so I guess that makes up for it.
This had…

- Batman Ranked: boxd.it/cHLlA
This whole film is like "what if we made every character in batman 10% sassier." Except for Alfred it doesn't work.
A Batman movie that opens with a quick skate sesh?? Hell yeah🙌🏻
Cool idea for an anthology type story. I mean what better person than Batman, to look at stages of someone’s life. 6.4/10🦇
The movie features six incredible stories set between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, though they aren't officially part of the Nolanverse.
The first story was my least favorite. It felt a bit too familiar, and the animation didn't quite do it for me. The second story stands out as one of the darkest animated adaptations of the Dark Knight. I was drawn to the third story because of its unique anime-style animation. The fourth one also had a dark tone and included notable villains like Killer Croc and Scarecrow, setting it apart from the others. The fifth story, "You work through pain," is my favorite. Initially, I mistook Cassandra for Lady Shiva, but she's not. And the last story…
I usually tend to like these collections of animations from different anime studios / styles (animatrix, halo legends, love death robot all slap) but this one really squanders the idea. All the styles don't go far enough besides the first one yet that one has such stilted dialogue. Really forgettable and near the bottom of the dcau for me currently. Some neat moments but none of the shorts I would say are that good. Early years of this collection have been rough to say the least (2007 to 2024 i believe is the years considered DCAU)
I've seen a lot of anthologies. A lot. And I can pretty confidently say that very few of them kick off with as appropriate a first chapter as Batman: Gotham Knight's. The meta vignette in question speaks to the creative energy flowing through the film while also setting the stage for what I found to be a thoroughly enjoyable and Bat-faithful series of diverse takes on the Caped Crusader. Each chapter is dynamically animated in its own distinct way and each brings to the fold its own strengths while connecting to the fabric of the whole. That the stories aren't the most impactful nor original Gotham-set tales I've seen didn't detract from what is otherwise a very fluid anthology with…

"Hey, Bat, when you're flying, what the city look like from up on high?"
"It looks dirty."
A anime-style Batman film could've been really great; it could have that anime violence that really looks great, but sadly Batman: Gotham Knight falls short of excellence to my disappointment. This collection of short stories is somewhat related to the Nolan-verse but isn't and I'm confused cause the film really doesn't resemble Bale'a Batman at all.
Each short story is filmed beautifully and the animation is simply phenomenal; I mean it looks like a freaking masterpiece of visuals and poetry, and the voice acting - my main man Kevin Conroy - is on point throughout the entire thing, but sadly the script…
A compendium of animated short stories about Batman. Each one is more bad-ass than the last. The art style is, well, artistic, and it seems you have to have artistic taste to really appreciate it as I found it a bit detracting from the feature in general. I still liked how serious, dark and tragic this one was. The last sequence with Deadshot is great and my rating here is largely based off that segment, as it's easily the most entertaining.
