Chained

Chained

"You ever do a puzzle? You know, the kind of puzzle that has the picture on the outside of the box? That's what people are. Pictures on the outside and pieces inside."

Bob may look like the typical cabbie but in reality it is a disguise that he uses to abduct and kill women. Bob is a serial killer. One day he picks up a mother and her young son and disposes of the mother as he normally would do. The young boy was not planned for, and so Bob decides to spare his life and make him a slave with the purpose of making the boy keep his house clean, maintain his newspaper scrapbook, and maybe follow in his footsteps someday. Years pass by and the now young man is left with the choice of following in Bob's footsteps.

Within the first ten minutes the viewer absolutely knows what they are getting themselves into. Bob, portrayed by Vincent D'Onofrio is a vicious son of a bitch who only cares about himself and finding his next victim. As the plot progresses we learn more about what created this heinous man. A man with no sense of what the average civilized person would consider good morals. He sees people as objects that have very few purposes, the most important of which is dying by his hands. One thing I don't understand is why he talks so weird, sort of like a combination of a deaf person and Arnold Schwarzenegger with a lisp.

Chained surprised me more than I've been surprised in a long time. I was expecting some low budget nonsense with Vincent D'Onofrio phoning it in for a quick buck but instead I got an awesome film about a depraved murderer who if real would probably be the most prolific serial killer in United States history. Then we get a twist that genuinely shocked me, and a top notch performance from D'Onofrio. This is one of those flicks that needs more attention and a shit ton more eyeballs on it. Check it out!
