In celebration of Barbenheimer, I decided to go to both of these movies in a pink suit (suit of Oppenheimer/Pink of Barbie). The first one I decided to check out was the IMAX showing of Oppenheimer. This is the biopic from Christopher Nolan and starring Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer, the man who lead Project Manhattan that would create the atomic bomb ending WWII but the beginning of a whole new paranoia.

This film is absolutely gorgeous with its use of visual detail in both the stars and the atomic blast. Watching it in IMAX gives you all the details closer but you can really feel the blast go through with its excellent use of sound! The cinematography is phenomenal mixed in with some editing between full color and black and white. This is a great use of symbolism as black and white is used in Lewis Strauss' point of view as he simply sees the world as black and white while Oppenheimer has a more open understanding of the world in its full colors.

Speaking of the cast, Cillian Murphy nails it as J. Robert Oppenheimer, able to show us the look of the torment that was in his creation and the impact it had on him. Robert Downey Jr. as Lewis Strauss also serves as quite the interesting antagonistic force, always calculating and manipulative in order to get his way! Other standouts include Benny Safdie as the cocky Edward Teller, Emily Blunt as the frustrated but supporting Kitty Oppenheimer, and Tom Conti as the brilliant Albert Einstein!

In my humble opinion, this is easily Christopher Nolan's best film with a very strong story that takes us in the emotional journey of Oppenheimer. The score really helps by the brilliant Ludwig Göransson as it helps presents the anxiety carried throughout the project. It's a powerful impact all around with a strong message that still holds up today of the dangers of nuclear weapons. Cannot stress enough how much I recommend checking out Oppenheimer especially on IMAX, its something you won't regret!
