Took our 8 year daughter and our 2 year son to see this and I'm happy to report that we didn't ruin anyone's day, I don't think. He got a bit ancy towards the end but wasn't loud, was just over sitting down. Was also nice going to this after being in Hawaii just a few weeks ago.
As for the movie, maybe my rating will go up after a watch at home, maybe I was too concerned about his actions and didn't really get sucked in, but I can replay the whole movie in my head so I know I didn't miss anything. I think it just felt... lifeless? The new villains had absolutely no personality and seemingly no motive. I thought they'd completely forgotten to follow up on the bat lady by the end there for a while.
I didn't have a problem with the new sidekicks, and enjoyed the friendly Kakamora companion. Glad Pua got to join the adventure this time too!
Hate to keep kicking a dead horse here but the worst parts are the new songs. They're probably not terrible but we can't help but to compare and unfortunately Lin-Manuel Miranda has made himself someone that can't be compared to. His songs alone in 1 gave so much depth and lore to the story in such a short amount of time. These really just seemed either pointless or redundant. Mufasa better freakin slap is all I know.
