I have no idea if I love this movie or not. It was great. I cried throughout the last half an hour of the film. Yeah, it was fun. I like Emma Stone better than Ryan Gosling. The songs were GOOD, but not as catchy as Les Demoiselles de Rochefort which is among my very favorites, so I'm biased. Being in L.A. for over 10 years now (I was born here, but moved elsewhere and then came back), I've lived through this movie it seems, and it's sad. Sad, but good. Damien Chazelle continues to make good after Guy & Madeline on a Park Bench (which was a spectacular debut). He could have easily faded into obscurity, but he made Whiplash, and then La La Land. Unfortunately, it almost, but didn't quite get Best Picture, but is still one of the best mainstream movies of the year.
