#88th Film of 2022Méliès in control. He pushes three women together and they become one, he bashes the large one on her head and she becomes a child, then large again, then three women. Further evidence of his wonderful editing.

These dances are great! Though the “Serpentine” dance which was released the following year is an improvement, I feel.

The Aquarium 1878
Now this is much better and a lot more fun! Motion is key for these early animated films and this has a good amount of it. I think that beige fish was meant to be stealing the bait, but that wasn’t so clear.

Arab Cortege, Geneva 1896
Not much to say here but I’m rather annoyed by the blocked views of the star ‘Arabs’. Filmmakers of this era often framed their scenes rather poorly in the midst of chaos, sometimes that helped create a sense of natural life, but sometimes it just kinda obscures the shot.

#132nd Film of 2022
A beautiful work of art. A beautiful musical composition. Wondrous short work of cinema, one of simplicity in its content, but one which seemed to move me a greater deal more than many films I’ve seen.
The title’s meaning is a matter to ponder for sometime to come.

Beautifully crafted short film! The colour animations are wonderful to marvel at. A great early film experiment.
