“The world…will remember this day”
1 year ago today I saw OPPENHEIMER for the first time. I know I can exaggerate on here but I mean it with absolute sincerity when I say that my life was forever changed.
I had already developed my film obsession by that point but not until this film do I think I realized just how much this medium for art surpasses every other in my book. The only art form where performance, music, fashion design, photography, interior design, and every other art form known to man can be displayed at once and work together to create something this beautiful, horrifying, thought provoking, and moving.
This movie is why I always push back when someone says that movies aren’t as good as they used to be. Because while there is an overwhelming amount of sludge, a film like this manages to both be something that feels classic, vintage, and like something we don’t make anymore, and be something that we could never have made until now. Thats what makes film so beautiful is that it mirrors the world we currently live in, and OPPENHEIMER manages to be timeless only by being unlike anything from any one time.
A miracle of a movie and one of the most inspiring pieces of art that I have ever seen…because there is no world where everything great has already been done and said better than you ever will when OPPENHEIMER only came out last year.
5th viewing I’m ready to call this the best movie ever made.
