    Exhuma is what 'Longlegs' could’ve been but didn’t. One of the most satisfying cinematic experiences both visually and storywise. The eerie atmosphere and lore, like the terrifying scene of Nure Onna the snake from Japanese folklore, Feng Shui terrorism, Iron Blood Alliance, and the Anima ancient zombie samurai, Japanese colonization of Korea were all carefully crafted into chapters. The slowly building tension and suspense as the story unfolds gives me that edge of the seat feeling. Performances were great too.…

    This sequel is definitely an upgrade for me compared to the first part. It takes a lot of skill to genuinely scare people, while it’s far easier to rely on shock value. The psychological supernatural horror genre is one of the toughest to crack and Smile 2 still struggles with this, few better jump scares but not much else.
