Wild Robot is a prime example of powerful stories often being simple. You don't always need complex screenplays, deeper intellectual dialogues or added hidden layers to tell a good story or make great cinema (animated films are well known for doing this since ages). Just simply tell it, if it connects hearts, your job is done.
I've had tears in my eyes on several occasions throughout the film (The film's central portrayal of motherhood resonated deeply, likely due to my personal loss). Besides 'motherhood', which this film focuses heavily on, the film also shows loneliness, hopelessness, inferiority complex, anger issues, friendship, unity and being different is not bad, all while ironically the titular character is a robot and not a biological being.
There were a few instances when you may feel this could be the good ending, but the film continued. The final ending they chose was satisfactory for me.
Wild Robot may not do box office wonders like other commercial animated hits like Mario Bros, Inside out 2, but this film will always count among the great animated movies, at least for me and all those people who liked it.
I hope DreamWorks wins all possible awards in the animated category this season.
Lupita Nyong'o as Mummy Roz is what we need to listen to, she did amazingly in her part, and so did Pedro Pascal voicing Fink and Kit Connor as Brightbill, Frank Miller as Thorn and the rest of the voice actors, who did their jobs amazingly.
