it’s beyond amazing to me that this movie even exists— one of my favorite superheroes in one of my favorite series got one of my favorite superhero movies and probably just one of my favorite movies ever— when I was a lil’ comics addict growing up and wanted to see superheroes on the big screen, this is the exact movie I imagined— and now I know endless people that say the same thing— I’ve just rarely seen such a sense of community around a superhero and what they can motivate us to do. and now I’m about to go see the sequel— like we actually got a sequel! so of course I had to watch this again. I’d say I’m really happy with how I feel about this movie— I’ve loved it ever since forcing myself to sit through VENOM just to see that first sneak peek— the animation, the writing, the music— everything’s just so fucking stellar— I’ve said before that, in spite of all that, I do feel like this movie’s a lil’ messy— the characterization, the theming, stuff like that coulda used a lil’ more development— but if anything that just stems from its sheer ambition and, even more than that, I’m more than willing to call this a miracle of plotting and pacing due to how much it just works— throwing every single thing it could imagine at us without ever losing us— holding onto us tight as it sees how much further and further it can swing— this thing that simultaneously encapsulates everything we love about Spider-Man while taking a metatextually holistic look at his place in cinema as the first superhero to really transcend into the medium and make a real connection with audiences (which this one’s done in its own ways by creatively invigorating not only myself and other creators but also seemingly the entire field of Western animation and that’s one of the most amazing things I’ve ever experienced)— it’s amazing to see how far Spider-Man’s come— and I can’t wait to see where he goes next soon
