Biotechnologia (-ae, f.) est ars biologica quae bacteriis, fungis, plantis, animalibus, organis, cellulis, organellisque utitur ad varia bona creanda, sicut cibos, vestita, medicinas, et caetera. Productio panis, cervisiae, vini, acetique biotechnologia longe utitur. Homines temporibus Aegyptorum faece utebantur ut carbonii dioxidum in pane cervisiaque efficeretur. Romani acetobacteriis usi sunt ut vinum in acetum mutetur, sed biotechnologia omnes agriculturae artes antiquas cohibet, etiam novas hodiernas laboratioriales? quas ut agriculturales hodie non considerant. Ecce bona hodierna biotechnologica: penicillinum, antibiotica, vaccina. At biotechnologia saepe biodiversitatem violare potest, e.g. clonizatio humana, si non recte utentur.
