Gjelina Take Away (GTA), the Venice takeout spot well-known for wood-fired pizzas and milk crate seating, closed on Sunday, June 2. CEO and partner of the Gjelina Group Shelley Armistead confirmed the closure to Eater, noting that GTA will reopen under the same ownership but with an updated menu structure and offerings. Armistead did not confirm the reopening timeline or how the menu will change. GTA debuted in 2011 as a casual sister restaurant to the always-busy Gjelina on Abbot Kinney Boulevard.

The Gjelina Group continues to operate Gjelina restaurants in Venice and New York City, along with Gjusta bakery, Gjusta Grocer, and Vitorrja, a hotel, guest house, and event space on Rose Avenue.
