Well that didn’t take long. Just weeks after prolific Westside restaurant blogger Toddrickallen scoped out the closing of The Big Catch seafood restaurant in Brentwood, he now confirms that none other than Northern Cafe has taken over the old space. Apparently the new restaurant is already up and running.

This new Brentwood location marks the third outlet for the San Gabriel Valley-based Chinese restaurant. Their first foray to the greater LA Westside came in Westwood, with UCLA’s large Chinese-American student population acting as an early backbone for the company while it found its footing in a new community. Beverly Boulevard followed not long after, and was aimed at the growing Beverly Center clientele and nearby office and hospital workers. And now it’s open in Brentwood, offering a narrow, long slot right on Wilshire Boulevard’s busy corridor.

Northern Cafe’s jump to Brentwood is just the latest in a growing line of Chinese restaurants keen on expanding further west. Even Sichuan Impression announced a new location for West LA, and is eyeing a follow-up fast casual location in Chinatown sometime later this year.
