Two local development firms are transforming the area next to the Fashion District. After buying the historic Dearden’s furniture store this month, ESI Ventures Urban Offerings are the development groups moving forward with the Norton building food hall and rooftop restaurant.

Norton’s five-story building is on Los Angeles Streets between Seventh and Eighth. Given the location to the Fashion District, the area is largely clothing retail, but neighborhood favorites like Sonoratown have set up shop in this evolving area.

The Los Angeles Business Journal first reported about ESI Ventures and Urban Offerings purchase of Dearden’s building. The Downtown plans have been moving forward for sometime, since the companies presented plans for the Norton Building to the LA Neighborhood Council in 2017.

Update: this post originally stated that the food hall and rooftop restaurant was headed to the Dearden’s building, but it has since been updated to reflect the new places going into the Norton building.
