16-Year-Old Greek Restaurant Sails Away From the Original Farmers Market

One of Los Angeles’s enduring Greek restaurants has closed, as Ulysses Voyage floats on after 16 years at The Original Farmers Market off Fairfax.

Ulysses Voyage lasted more than a decade and a half at the popular tourist market next to the Grove, but a rumored rent raise caused the place to quietly board up the windows this week. Management acknowledged the shutter to Eater just yesterday, and now the restaurant’s Facebook page confirms the permanently closed status. Word is that owners Hana and Peter Carabatsos may seek a new location for their restaurant elsewhere in town, but there’s no news on that front just yet. Eater reached out to the Farmers Market to see if any new tenants had confirmed for the existing (and newly open) space, but so far hasn’t heard back.

The Ulysses Voyage shutter at The Original Farmers Market adds to what has been an up-and-down couple of years for the iconic Fairfax destination. 80-year-old Gill’s Ice Cream retired from the market just over a year ago, and the short-lived Moruno shuttered at the far end of the market back in 2016, while over at the adjacent Grove names like Dominique Ansel continue to drive long lines and legions of fans.
