Dunkin Donuts opened its first LA branch just two weeks ago and the line was off the chain because the Westside is apparently full of East Coast transplants. Dunkin HQ announced the locations of four other LA-area outlets long ago, and it looks like Downey will be the second out of the gate. Ever better, this one has a drive-thru courtesy of the defunct Arby's it is supplanting.
Grand opening will be September 23 at 5 a.m.. Both the first in-store customer and the first customer at the drive-thru will receive free coffee for a year. First 100 customers will receive a Dunkin "swag bag". Dunkin Downey will also give away free medium hot (or ice) coffee all day. The large 3,500 square foot stand-alone store features a covered outside lounge area in addition to the drive-thru. There is also ample outdoor seating and parking.
The Downey and Whittier Dunkins are owned by the Prell Restaurant Group, a franchising operations that also owns dozens of Wingstop restaurants. Prell Group's next Dunkin' will be in Whittier, also taking over a defunct Arby's, and it is set to open end of October. Remember: A true caffeine fiend, or anyone who has dated a Dunkin-obsessed, knows to order a large black with double turbo.
