Our Sustainability Hub features the work of IAB Europe, created in collaboration with National Federations and our members, to showcase what we are doing and the steps we are taking to support and act on this important topic.

Why is Sustainability in Digital Advertising Important?

In recent years, sustainability has risen to the forefront of discussions in the digital advertising industry, evolving from a niche concern to a widely acknowledged priority.

Recognising the significant environmental impact of internet-related activities, devices, and supporting systems, the industry has a responsibility to address the climate crisis and to take decisive action to ensure a sustainable advertising choice for brands and, more importantly, to reduce the overall carbon footprint of the digital advertising ecosystem.

IAB Europe Sustainability Standards Committee

The Sustainability Standards Committee is a multi-stakeholder group that aims to drive sustainability in the digital advertising industry. It acts as a central point of collaboration to create best practices and new standards for the delivery of digital advertising in Europe.

The committee brings industry stakeholders together to share expertise and to deliver on a work plan that helps to reduce the amount of energy consumed and emissions produced by digital advertising. The committee’s core focus areas are:
