Rasgrund was a murderer from the Oseram tribe who was imprisoned at Sunstone Rock until he escaped.
History[]
A sadist murderer[1] with considerable skill at crafting lethal traps, Rasgrund was caught by Carja soldiers in a ravine at Dusk Mesa while tinkering with his bombs. He was taken to Sunstone Rock for his crimes, where he was considered so dangerous that he was kept in an isolation cage.
Horizon Zero Dawn[]

At some point, Rasgrund smuggled a machine lure into Sunstone Rock "on his person" and lured two Behemoths to attack the prison while he ran during the chaos,[2] returning to the ravine at Dusk Mesa.[3]
After saving Sunstone Rock from the machines, Aloy was sent by Warden Janeva after three of the escaped prisoners, including Rasgrund. As she entered the ravine, she made her way through while avoiding Rasgrund's bombs. Rasgrund was surprised that it wasn't Carja soldiers coming after him, but continued teasing Aloy as she dodged his bombs. He was disappointed to hear that Janeva hadn't been killed by the Behemoths he summoned.[3]
Finally, Aloy cornered Rasgrund. He pretended to surrender, but Aloy, by now fully aware of what she was dealing with, demanded to see what he had in his hand behind his back. He held up another bomb and dropped it with a nonchalant "Oops!", forcing Aloy to run from the explosion,[3] killing Rasgrund offscreen.[4] As she made her way out of the ravine, Aloy wryly mused that at least he died doing what he loved.[3]
