Verbena Sutter[1] is a minor character in Horizon Forbidden West.
History[]
Life in the Old World[]
Verbena inherited her vast fortune from her father, who had made billions in the luxury holotourism industry.[2]
Verbena made her career as an influencer, self-styled as a "life designer",[2] maintaining her VERB holo-log, where she gave out promotions for products, including a self-holo of her having an algal bloom bath with the new ultra hydro sunkissed sea bomb.[3]
Verbena's inherited wealth made her the world's most eligible bachelorette at the age of 24.[2] In May 2061, she became engaged to K-O-wl, this being her seventeenth engagement, with past partners including holostars, New-Reggae Gods, and high flying CEOs. However, rumors were swirling about arguments between the two, with Verbena demanding style changes to K-O-wl's luxurious holosphere-equipped loft in SoHo, which he was resisting. However, sources claimed that the couple still carried holograms of each other wherever they went.[1]
At some point, Verbena joined Far Zenith. She was among those who escaped the Faro Plague aboard the Odyssey to the Sirius system.
Life on Sirius[]
Thanks to various pharmaceutical and genetic treatments, Verbena was granted physical immortality, allowing her to survive for centuries.
Tilda had a very poor opinion of Verbena, describing her as a rat.[2]
While it is unclear whether Verbena had any role in the creation of Nemesis, she was one of only thirteen Zeniths to escape back onto the Odyssey and escape the colony's destruction at the hands of Nemesis.
Life after Sirius[]
Horizon Forbidden West[]
Verbena was sent with Beta to retrieve ELEUTHIA from the Ninmah Research Lab. While they were successful, Beta managed to distract Verbena long enough to send a message to GAIA pretending to be ELEUTHIA, record a message for the other Elisabet clone she saw in the HADES Proving Lab to find, remove her implant, hide in one of the ectogenic chambers and alter the logs to make it appear there were only 236 chambers while she hid in the 237th.[4]
Despite searching, Verbena wasn't able to find Beta. At some point, she was ambushed by the Sons of Prometheus and Regalla's Rebels, looking to test a new weapon on her. Verbena had no trouble holding them off with her Specter Gauntlet until they used the weapon that disabled her shield. Now vulnerable and completely off guard, Verbena was fatally stabbed by the last surviving rebel, barely able to kill her attacker before dying herself.[5]
Legacy[]
While she was a popular celebrity in the Old World and data involving her has survived within the Forbidden West and the Burning Shores, to Alva's knowledge, no data about Verbena has been recovered by the Quen tribe.[6]
