New York is a state in the Northeastern United States of America.[1]

History[]

Its largest city, as well as the country's largest city, was New York City, where on 6 December 1926, magical beasts escaped from Newton Scamander's suitcase.[2]

During the Calamity in the late 2010s or early 2020s, a rich Muggle managed to wander into a wizarding inn in upstate New York and demanded to buy the building, offering a variety of terrible "upgrade" ideas. A Calamity Investigator working for the Statute of Secrecy Task Force was attending the inn and attempted to talk the Muggle down, but the Muggle was so relentless that the investigator was forced to obliviate him. As a result, the inn's grateful owners offered the investigator higher-energy food at their inn.[3]
