Description	Opportunity for seventh-year students to explore wizarding careers at the British Ministry of Magic

This student programme was sponsored by the British Ministry of Magic, offering seventh-year students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry a chance to experience different wizarding careers first-hand before graduation. Participants were supervised by Ministry employees, who would assign them to various tasks and real-world incidents that the Ministry was investigating.

It had been organised for several years as of the 1990–1991 school year.

History

At some point before 1990, Amos Diggory, an employee at the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, was in charge of the programme.

During the 1990–1991 school year, it was overseen by Wilkie Twycross. Headmaster Albus Dumbledore sent several seventh-year students to the Ministry to receive their assignments.

Jacob's sibling and Nymphadora Tonks were assigned to Alastor Moody at the Auror Office; Charlie Weasley and Liz Tuttle to the Improper Use of Magic Office; Barnaby Lee and Ben Copper to the Misuse of Muggle Artefacts Office. Jacob's sibling, Barnaby, Charlie and Liz were later reassigned to the Beast Division in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures for related tasks. Later still, Jacob's sibling and Ben were reassigned to the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes.

A Hogwarts Life

This assignment was assigned by Alastor Moody. It involved learning about Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in different ways.

The Rogue Alchemist

This assignment was assigned by Alastor Moody. It involved tracking down a rogue alchemist who had invented a fake panacea that gave several victims boils.

Registering wands

This assignment was assigned by Alastor Moody. It involved helping Eric Munch register Ministry visitors' wands.

Unknown assignment involving Portkeys

Arthur Weasley intended to give Jacob's sibling an assignment involving Portkeys, but was interrupted by the malfunctioning enchanted windows in the Portkey Office.

Fixing the enchanted windows

Arthur Weasley then tasked them to fix the enchanted windows. They were later found to have been cast the Atmospheric Charm, and Jacob's sibling used meteolojinx recanto to reverse the effects.

Plan Ministry Party

This assignment was assigned by Amelia Bones. It involved planning a Ministry Party for the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.

Auror Field Training

This assignment was assigned by Alastor Moody. It involved experiencing a simulation of the real Auror Field Training.

Assist Madam Bones

This assignment was assigned by Amelia Bones. It involved filling in her assistant's job to deal with cases investigated by the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.

Whispered Rumours

This assignment was assigned by Alastor Moody. It involved learning about different rumours spreading across the wizarding world.

Duelling Mastery

This assignment was assigned by Alastor Moody. It involved learning about duelling to become more skilful in it.

Investigating a creature attack

This assignment was assigned by Amos Diggory. It involved investigating a mysterious creature attack in Hogsmeade. The creature turned out to be a Wampus cat, which was successfully Stunned and captured by Jacob's sibling and their friends.

Track the Werewolf

This assignment was assigned by Alastor Moody. It involved tracking down a werewolf who was recently bitten.

Unknown assignment involving Nifflers

This assignment was assigned to Charlie Weasley by Amos Diggory.

Transportation Regulation

This assignment was assigned by Alastor Moody. It involved learning about magical (and Muggle) transportation and preparing a report for Cornelius Fudge, the new Minister for Magic.

Snidget Sanctuary

Amos Diggory lecturing Jacob's sibling and Charlie Weasley

This assignment was assigned by Amos Diggory. It involved learning about Golden Snidgets and investigating a case of Snidget-smuggling from a Snidget Sanctuary.

Investigating a backfired wand

This assignment was assigned by Alastor Moody in place of the Head of the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes. It involved investigating one of Garrick Ollivander's wand which backfired.

Muggle Artefact Smuggler

This assignment was assigned by Alastor Moody. It involved tracking down a Muggle Artefact Smuggler who had been enchanting Muggle artefacts and selling them back to Muggles.

A Dragon Mishap

This assignment was assigned by Amos Diggory. It involved investigating a dragon attack on Muggles in Southwest England.

Restoring Ollivander and Villanelle's memories

This assignment was assigned by Alastor Moody as a follow-up to the backfired wand investigation assignment. Jacob's sibling and Ben Copper found the cause to be Xeep's Luscious Locks Solution, and Professor Snape, Penny Haywood and Jacob's sibling made a counter-serum, which they gave to the victims of the solution in Ollivanders.

A Peck of Owls

This assignment was assigned by Amos Diggory. It involved learning about owl behaviour and helping the Ministry hide the existence of the wizarding world during the period of increased owl activity due to Celestina Warbeck's new song.

Catastrophe Clean-Up

This assignment was assigned by Alastor Moody. It involved investigating an explosion in Northumberland caused by an Erumpent horn.

Research Beasts

This assignment was assigned by Amos Diggory. It involved learning more about Scottish fauna and writing a report for the Minister.

Invasion of the Doxys

This assignment involved helping clear out a doxy infestation at the Ministry that was causing disruption.

A Witch's Garden

This assingment involved resolving the case of a Muggle who had stumbled into a witch's garden and made a salad from magical plants: lovage, scurvy grass and sneezewort, which had caused them to become befuddled.

Gnome Invasion

This assingment involved investigating an outbreak of gnomes in a village that were terrorising villagers and eating up their gardens.

The Ghost's Puffskein

This assignment involved helping the Ministry find a missing Puffskein, Mr Bigglesby that belonged to a female ghost, in order to find the lost pet and find it a new home.

To Catch A Prankster

This assignment involved collecting and examining evidence on the Muggle-baiting prankster Willy Widdershins, who had just sold a bar of Frog-Spawn soap to a Muggle.

Ghouls Among Us

This assignment involved researching Chameleon Ghouls in order to counter an infestation by them that was happening in the Ministry.

Wizengamot Wisdom

This assignment involved shadowing the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, Amelia Bones, throughout her day of work at the Ministry.

Poltergeist Problems

This assignment involved researching Poltergeists in order to effectively hunt down a Poltergeist who haunted a Muggle family and to Obliviate the Muggle family involved.

Stolen Goblin Treasure

This assignment involved investigating the goblin owner of a treasure that had been brought to the Ministry after a thief had dropped it following a skirmish with some Aurors. It was eventually revealed to belong to the goblin Lerm.
