Leander Prewett (b. 1874/1875) was a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the late 19th century, where he was sorted into Gryffindor.[4][5]
Biography[]
He once nearly lost a thumb to a Chinese Chomping Cabbage, but it was reattached by Noreen Blainey.[6]
During the 1890–1891 school year, he duelled against Sebastian Sallow in Classroom 3C before Professor Dinah Hecat interrupted it.[7] Leander later boasted to the new fifth-year student that he would have won the duel had Hecat not intervened (though the student noted that Leander could have been incapacitated by a falling Hebridean Black skeleton).[6]
He later helped the student to handle Chinese Chomping Cabbages as requested by Professor Mirabel Garlick during an Herbology class,[6] and challenged them at the Summoner's Court.[8] He also was a member of the secret duelling club Crossed Wands organised by fellow Gryffindor student Lucan Brattleby.[5]
Personality and traits[]
Although sorted into a house renowned for its brave ideals, Leander used his bravado to mask his personal insecurities.[4] Zenobia Noke had a very low opinion of Leander, describing him as a bully and a "no-talent moonmind".[9]
Magical skills and abilities[]
- Duelling: Leander was able to hold his own against Sebastian Sallow during their duel in Classroom 3C, although he was outwitted when Sebastian cast the Bombardment Spell at the dragon skeleton and nearly crushed Leander.[7] He was convinced that he could have beaten Sebastian, though this might have been an exaggeration, as he spoke with some hesitation in his voice.[6]
- Charms: Leander was a player of Summoner's Court, a game which required adept usage of the Summoning Charm.[8]
Possessions[]
- Owl: Leander used this owl to send letters, although he didn't write frequently and claimed that his owl must be 'getting cobwebs'.
- Mimbulus mimbletonia: Leander took care of a Mimbulus Mibletonia in his spare time.
- Star chart: Leander owned several star charts, but found it difficult to read them all since there was so little space in the Gryffindor common room.
Behind the scenes[]
- Leander was voiced by Joshua Shea in Hogwarts Legacy.[10]
