Kevin "Kev" Farrell was a wizard who started attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 2008 and was sorted into Gryffindor.

Biography

Early life

During Christmas seasons, Kevin would often calculate with his father which end of Christmas crackers to pull to get the rewards, and listen to his father tell dry jokes.

Hogwarts years

First year

Kevin began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 2008. On 1 September, he travelled to the school via the Hogwarts Express, and was sorted into Gryffindor along with Robyn Thistlethwaite. After their first Charms lesson, he talked to a fellow student, Robyn, and Lottie Turner in a corridor. He asked if they knew where the Hogwarts Library was after he forgot and got lost. They didn't know because they hadn't been there yet. He was worried it had moved but Robyn told him only the staircases move, which he was pleased to hear. He later watched the student and Robyn duel Cassandra Vole and Fischer Frey in the Duelling Club, where he told the student what a Duo Duel was.

Kevin was forced to attend Dance Club by Robyn where she kept stepping on him while they were dancing. The student talked to them and Kevin whinged about Robyn but she claimed he was having a great time. He told her he was until she had stepped on him but she told him he didn't feel a thing. He told her that he didn't at first so she shouted that he should find someone else to dance with next time.

After receiving an owl from Lottie to gather in the library to help find Ivy, Kevin snuck out after curfew.He was eventually joined by the student, Daniel and Robyn. Kevin was unsure if it was safe to walk around the castle and when Daniel told him it wouldn't be, Robyn disagreed to encourage Kevin to stay and help. Even though Daniel left, Kevin agreed to help when the student told him they needed a clever person like him in their group.

They first entered the Potions Classroom where Robyn released acromantulas by accident. After they dispatched of the spiders, they left to search another part of the castle. While they were talking, the portrait of William de Cognac asked them to put out their light so he could sleep. Kevin asked if he happened to notice Ivy walking past. He told them he hadn't and threatened to tell Filch they were there. They were then spotted by Peeves who took great delight in finding the missing first-years before realising there was only supposed to be one. They told Peeves they weren't lost but they were also looking for Ivy. He decided to test their mettle. After they defeated Peeves, the student and Robyn discovered Kevin had disappeared.

In 2009, he listened to another one of his father's jokes, which was about how the England national cricket team won a match on Christmas Day 1972 so that they could eat turkeys for dinner. Kevin found the joke silly, but his father laughed hard.

Personality and traits

Kevin was an intelligent, brillant boy who liked reading books and didn't enjoy breaking the rules.

Magical abilities and skills

• Charms: Kevin could produce a corporeal Patronus in the form of a hedgehog, an exceptional form of magic for a Hogwarts student to perform.
• Dark Arts: Kevin once swiftly used the Jelly-Legs Curse to tackle an aggressive security troll, showing he had a level of skill with dark charms.

Possessions

• Wand: Kevin's wand was 12 inches, made of larch with a dragon heartstring core.
• Firebolt Supreme: His mother bought him a Firebolt Supreme, hoping he could try out for the Gryffindor Quidditch team. He gave it to Robyn to use for Quidditch.
• S.P.E.W. badge: Kevin found three S.P.E.W. badges hidden behind a book in the Hogwarts Library. Seeing the organisation's founder, Hermione Granger, as a personal hero, Kevin decided to keep one of the badges in order to have a piece of her legacy.
